Obscured is a new platform for artists and other creatives to comment on themes around how we, as gay men, obscure ourselves – either literally or figuratively from others.
From being closeted to the costumes worn in pursuit of the kinkier elements to the methods we use to deal with the psychological impacts of our perceived differences from ‘the norm’.
Neither a straight-forward arts journal, nor a website the primary concern of this project is to provoke thought and conversation in respect of the core theme – and the themes of the calls for submission.
An irregular, limited edition, tangible publication will be produced and offered for sale – which will also link to ‘secret’ online content. But, in addition to this there will be public content on the site which will add to the conversation we’re having – artist profiles, essays, interviews, galleries etc.
